Eat Healthier - Feast First Thing

Just like how you wouldn't dream leaving the house without first brushing your teeth, you should aim to start the day with a good, healthy breakfast. Eating in the morning revs up your calories-burning mechanism and helps control your appetite all day.

So what's for breakfast?

1. Almond-banana smoothie

Combine 1-cup vanilla soymilk, one banana, 2-tablespoons ground flaxseed, 1 tablespoon almond butter and 1/4-teaspoon almond extract in a blender, and serve.



2. Creamy cranberry hot cereal

Cook 1/2-cup plain oatmeal with 1/2-cup skim milk and 1/2-cup water. Stir in 1-tablespoon dried cranberries, 1-tablespoon ground flaxseed and 2-teaspoons maple syrup. Chop up one apple and add into your oatmeal with another 1/2-cup skim milk just before serving.



3. Eggs and toast

Cook two eggs, any style, using 2-teaspoons trans-fat-free margarine. Serve the eggs with a slice of wholemeal toast with 2-teaspoons fruit spread, Serve with 3/4 -cup rasberries and a glass of skim milk.



1-teaspoon = 5ml
1-tablespoon = 15ml
1/2-cup = 125ml
